RE: 12V Aux Batteries Contd in Series??

Did you measure the voltage across the two batteries? Could be two - 6 volt CG in series for 12 volts.

RE: Holiday Park Ft Worth Texas

johno, What is the park like? Our son & wife live in Burleson, so we stayed at Cleburne SP at Christmas in the FHU sites. I have done some checking into Lake Benbrook. Asked on this site if anyone had stayed at this lake with not getting much information last year. For us Cleburne SP is 25 miles to son's door steps. That is no problem, but takes longer to get to the SP from I-20 with all the traffic. I will not complain about it being oil field traffic with my husband in the oil business, which it is all oil field trucks. It just seems it would be closer to them. And we always try to stay at different parks for a change. Wish we could join you. Always neat to visit with other campers. Sharon

RE: atwood furnace burn/smell

Smoke detector going off........I would look for the outside furnace vents. There was a previous post about some furnaces not installed correctly (not vented to the outside and fire hazard). Bonefish

RE: rotten meat smell- UPDATE - UPDATE

I use a bacteria/enzyme product in the holding tanks. It work with no foul odors. One thing is you don't dump bleach or any other type of anti-bacterial cleansers in the tanks because it neutralizes the effect of the enzymes and beneficial bacteria. You may try a week or so of just spraying the fridge and the seals with the enzyme product on a daily basis and let it do it's job. My two cents but you may be defeating the process by wiping down with bleach. Bonefish

RE: Texas RV Park to stay away from

We have always stayed at Blazing Star for location to what we need at the time. The last time in San Antonio was while cleaning on our vacant land and my DIL took me by Tejas and yes it was not what the website shows. I was really disappointed in it and the condition of the sites. I can not remember the cost for day or month not worth it in my eyes. The state parks and COE in Texas look better than this place. RE: Winterize Outside Shower Only - Possible?

As for the external shower compartment; stuffing some insulation in it and leaving the inside cabnet door open should be sufficient to keep the lines above freezing. If expecting a really hard freeze you could do as some one suggested in trapping air in the lines. I do this on exterior faucets at my house to prevent freeze damage in the winter if a really hard freeze is expected. For the outside washing machine my mom's was always outside. During the winter months after washing she would take the drain hose and just lay it down on the ground. Any water trapped in it and the pump would just drain out and prevent freeze damage to the pump and lines. Bonefish

RE: Gas Milage

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh144/Bonefish_photos/Kayakcarry.jpg Haul mine all the time on long trips and have never noticed it effecting the fuel milage. How fast I drive has more effect. Generally tow at around 60 to 65 mph now. Bonefish

RE: Christmas already ? ? ?

Hobby Lobby starts putting Christmas out in June. Then they put one small area for Halloween & Thanksgiving. Some of the Christmas items have a 50% off in the store about 3 months stocking. I do need some new rope lights for the camper. Sharn

RE: winterization help

My first camper I use the antifreeze stuff - ONCE in my water system. Takes way too much time to get it all flushed out of the system and still some taste and feel remains. I can be out of storage and going camping while you are still trying to flush that stuff out of your lines. Only use air to blow out all the lines. Never had a problem. I My latest camper has two water filter system that are similar to what your home has. The antifreeze would ruin them. The air blowout method has worked with them blowing the water out of the filters and prevent frost damage. I do dump RV antifreeze in my sink traps, comode bowl and some in the gray/black tanks to prevent any freezing above the tank valves if I am leaving them closed. If you can completely drain you tanks so you can leave the valves open also works. A blue tote tank is good for draining the remainder out of the grey/black drain lines once in storage and just leave them open and attached an empty the tote encase of additional minor drainage. RE: Spare Break Away cable

I had to repair my breakaway cable once when it was pinched and broke in two. I used a cripping metal sleeve for repairing wire rope to repair it. The 1/8" wire rope can be purchased at any hardware store inclucing the metal sleeves to make the loop ends. If the pin is gone then that is another issue. The boy scout in me says you could probably carve a piece of dowell to shove in the hole to get you home. Bonefish

RE: 18V Drill and Scissor Jacks

My Dewalt drill at the max torque setting will fully extend and lift the camper on the jacks. So. I use around 1/2 of the torque range on the drill and I also have 6" thick blocks under the stand to keep the jacks square in their set position. If memory serves me the torque setting goes from 1-20 so I am using around 10 for the torque setting on my drill to slip. It seems to set all the stands equally tentioned and none of the doors inside the camper bind. Bonefish

RE: Slide out lubrication

http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/caulks-sealants/38-8550.htm Our TT has a Lippert slide and I used some of the above on it. BIG MISTAKE!:S First cold weather I thought I would never get it back in. This stuff sets when it gets cold and I had to scrape it off. Tried the graphite type on the slide and could not tell any difference in operation. Be careful of over spray getting on the underside of the slide room. It will transfer it to your carpet when it is in. I still have not gotten all the residue of the slide bars and tracks. IMHO -- If I had it all over to do again I would probably just power wash the slide tracts to get dirt and grit off. Then maybe a little clear silicone spray on the bearing areas. Bonefish

RE: Rockwood Length Question

Ditto on the above plus you need to know your tow vehicle length. Sometimes the over all site length becomes a issue. Mine is 55 feet from TV front bumper to TT bumper and fixing to get longer once I get my generator rack finished. :B Bonefish

RE: Hitch/Reciver Locks

Thieves out here hit a few dealers and storage sites. Breaking in and stealing flat screen TVs, DVDs and players, etc. Items they could easily sell for booze or drugs. Did more damage to doors and inside of campers and motor homes. They caught the guys and recovered some of the items but lawyers got them off on a technicality.:M Bonefish

Do yourself a favor and call around and take a class so you can do it safely! For recreational welding I use a Millermatic 140 MIG. Bonefish

RE: wild opossum

TRUE - Opossums actually don't OFTEN carry rabies. They have a lower than average body temperature, and the virus doesn't survive well in them. They do carry a large amount of parasites and thus are vectors for the diseases that fleas, ticks, etc. can transmit. They also leave a lot of droppings, which pose the usual excrement health risks, such as leptospirosis or salmonella. You can play with them I will just continue to force them to move some where else. Bonefish

RE: Using TT in Winter

I have a friend who has a hunt lease with hookups for RVs including a septic system, water & 30amp at the base camp. :S We don't shoot deer out of the RV's windows; we use deer blinds in the wooded areas for that. :R Bonefish

Is there even a cable attached to the breakaway pin so you can attach it to the tow vehicle. If not the breakaway pin may be missing. Bonefish

RE: Tire Wear Pattern-Tandem Axle TT (Pic's) Where to look next

You need to check this alignment. It is critical to tire wear and towing. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh144/Bonefish_photos/TirewearLO.jpg Bonefish
